The Italian Businessman’s Club is a cultural, social and service association that was established over 60 years ago by Portland's businessmen of Italian heritage. They decided that there existed a desire and need for a permanent Italian American organization in the Portland area dedicated to preserving and promoting Italian culture and providing a civic service for our community and the country of our heritage.  Of course, in keeping with that Italian heritage, the IBC also maintains a lively social side.

The Italian Businessman’s Club meets monthly for dinner and participates in formal and informal events throughout the year.  We celebrate the fall grape harvest (see the La Vendemmia announcement below), sometimes play bocce and have family dinners and parties at Christmas and other times during the year.  We often join with other Italian clubs in the area for such events as the very popular Festa Italiana. Networking is constant.

Since its 1951 inception, the IBC has taken a leading role on behalf of many worthwhile causes, both here and abroad. We have a separate IBC Foundation, a (501 (c) (3)) organization which has supported the Portland Symphony, Portland Opera, OMSI and the Washington Park Zoo’s “Elephant Fund.”  In 1957 the club donated $10,000 to Boys Town of Italy, and for more than 30 years has donated funds to the Christie Foundation, the Portland Police’s Sunshine Division, and other local charities.

Ten years ago, our foundation established a yearly scholarship in Italian studies at PSU and, more recently, provides assistance to the Scuola Italiana di Portland through our fundraising events. We not only provide financial support to those organizations but also volunteer on boards or by assisting in other ways.  We have also assisted Italian charities when disasters have struck in Italy, such as the L'Aquila earthquake of 2009.

Members include both men and women of Italian, Italian-American heritage or are related to Italians.  You can talk to any of us about applying or fill out the form on this site and mail it in.

Vendemmia

An Autumn vineyard setting reminiscent of Tuscany!

A sumptuous  feast, great wine, a bit of opera; all set at beautiful Ardirí Vineyard in northern Willamette Valley.

Our 5th annual vineyard harvest event is set for Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2014

A portion of proceeds will benefit the IBC Foundation, a 501 (c) (3), dedicated to promoting Italian culture and education through a yearly scholarship at PSU, the Scuola Italiana di Portland and other worthwhile causes.

This event is open to all... however, space is limited and past events have sold out, so plan your calendar and check back soon for reservation information.

In case of inclement weather, Ardirí has a large enclosed tasting area with a fireplace and fire pits.  This area can be expanded  with a large tent should the need arise.   More information on pricing, menu and other features will be posted here.
