PSU Professor of Italian Studies, Angela Zagarella

IBC member, Angela Zagarella, a Professor at PSU, conducted and participated in a  eye opening event on February 17, 2018.  Along with four others on the panel, she staged a first time reading in America of parts of the award winning script written by Antonio Umberto Ricco “That Morning In Lampedusa”.

The reading vividly brought to life the tragic journey of October 3, 2013, and how it impacted the relations of the rescuers and the lives of the surviving refugees.

Fleeing war and poverty,  African refugees suffered a heart-breaking sea journey when,  nearing the Sicilian island of Lampedusa, the ship sank.  It is estimated that over 300 people of all ages died and 155 survived.

Son of IBC's Pasquale Pascuzzi, Gabriel has been in the fine food and cooking business for years and opened his bright new shop, 'Stacked' in 2017.
